The Irony

I find myself
Counseling
On things of which I’ve failed
Like relationships
And love affairs
I have watched sail away

But I offer a helping hand
I understand the sadness
And the strain of being all alone in this
Plastic City

I find myself
Counseling
Friends who need to move on
When I myself
Have stayed too long
And learned through time
What went wrong

But I offer my honesty
My sympathy and commentary
On the irony of life
In this great big
Plastic City

I don’t hate it here
My mind is clear
One place
They’re all the same

I just don’t wanna play the game
There is no gain for me
No not for me

But I offer my honesty
My sympathy and commentary
On the irony of life
In this great big
Plastic City

I find myself
Counseling
On things of which I’ve failed
Like relationships
And love affairs
I have watched sail away

Once I listened back to this piece I wondered, “Why are you writing this? Why do you still live in Cali?”  At that point I realized it was time to go.
