eastern bay

(for Aaron)

Eastern Bay
On a sunny day
Here we must say goodbye

My old friend
I came with love to send
You on your road ahead
But instead

(Chorus)
You
Have taken my fears away
You
Pierced the veil to say
True
Love will span the space of time

Sadness falls
On my heart as evening calls
I don’t wanna be alone

On the phone
Hoping to see your face
In someone driving home
So I roam
But
(chorus)

You smiled on me

I fly away
From an Eastern Bay I see
The shadow of a plane within a rainbow’s light
So I write
That
(chorus)

You smiled on me

Guitars and Vocals: Randy Hall

This song was written for a friend of mine who had passed.  He was an ex-Marine and at the time of his passing was a California Highway Patrol Officer in the Bay Area of California.  For those of you who are wondering how I would befriend a law and order kat, I used to run with a crew of military kats at one point and let me tell you they knew how to have fun!  For a couple of years Aaron and I lived in the same neighborhood.  At the time Randy Hall lived around the way.  I introduced them to each other on the 101 Freeway I believe (at breakneck speeds I recall).

The CHP come to say goodbye to their own in a way which is moving and touching.  It was part of what inspired the work. When it came time to record, I wanted to have Randy the third part of the Woodland Hills bruthas play and sing on the piece with me.  He gave of his soul.
